it’s been a while…
It has been more than 2.5 months since my blog was up. We moved out of our apartment on August 31 and put everything in storage. Since I host this on a server at our place, this meant the server went into storage. We were lucky enough to stay with Laura’s cousin Jacob for two months. We got the keys to our house on November 3, but I’ve just now been able to unpack enough to set up the server.
Anyhow, a lot has changed in the last two and a half months….we got our house, we moved, I started a new job, I shot a wedding, I attended one of Zack Arias’ OneLight Workshops, and I’m taking two classes at PCC.
The new job is great. The people are awesome and it will be great working for a nimble company. The wedding I shot was Jacob’s. I’m currently editing the pictures and will hopefully post some once the bride and groom have had an opportunity to review them first.
I sold my 18-200mm lens. I just didn’t feel that it was very sharp and being limited to f/5.6 at 200mm sucked. For the wedding, I rented a 24-70mm f/2.8 and a 70-200mm f/2.8. I really enjoyed using the 24-70mm lens. It will probably be my next lens purchase. The 70-200mm lens was a great piece of glass, but I shot 80% of the wedding with the 24-70mm. I’d like to get an Alien Bee and a Vagabond battery pack, but I can probably do without them for now. My Vivitar 285HV and Nikon SB-600 are workhorses.
Our house is awesome. The only downside is my commute. I seem to be leaving right at the peak of traffic in the mornings, so it takes me about 80 minutes to get to work. The way home hasn’t been too bad because I’ve been coming home fairly late. We need to finish unpacking.
