The Blog

My blog’s back up, but you might notice that I’m missing all my posts from March until now……..that’s what happens kids when you don’t back up your critical data and you have a hardware failure. If you didn’t know, my linux box is suffering from some mysterious hardware failure. It won’t boot, I get no video output at all. I’m going to swap the hard drive into another machine and try to boot off it. If that works, I might be able to recover the missing posts. I didn’t realize how much I missed having this blog as an outlet. It’s just nice to be able to get on here and let it all rip. After getting the blog back up, the first thing I did was write a back up script and set up a scheduled task to dump it every night. So until I get a linux box back up, everything’s running of my Windows XP box. I have 2 hard drives in it and I back all my critical data up on both, so I’m prepared for a hardware failure. The only way I can loose the data now is a fire (and I’m working on a solution to prevent even that from making me loose it all).

I’m sorry ladies…I’m a married man now. The wedding was awesome. Best wedding ever (but I might be a bit biased).

I did something really stupid tonight. Laura and I were going to Blockbuster. As I pulled into the parking lot, I somehow didn’t see a concrete island and tried to drive over it. No problem, right? If I had been in the 4Runner, it wouldn’t have been an issue, but I was in the XRunner. I heard a horrible noise. After parking, I got out to inspect the damage. A couple clips holding body molding on the passenger side body skirt had broken. Guess I get to track down part numbers and call toyota next week 🙁 I’m still trying to track down a fender flare to replace the one that got munched….I can get one from the stealership for $480 already painted. I found it at a parts department in Texas for $330. A guy in TTORA in San Diego (works as a Toyota service tech) can get it for me for $350. Eventually I’m going to fix it, but with the way people drive down here, I might just wait for someone else to hit me.

I bought a new PC game….TrackMania United. Kirk at work recommended it. It’s a racing game. It’s not very realistic, but it’s fun. You get to go off big jumps, drive through loops, ride half pipes, and other fun stuff. It was only $30 through Steam.

I want a new stereo for the XRunner. The stock stereo is just too flat…..with only bass and treble controls, I can’t make it sound good enough. I’m looking at a Pioneer deck. I’m going to sell the two 10” JL Audio 10w0 subs that are in the 4Runner and get a single 10w3v3 sub and make a custom box to fit behind the console of the X. I’m going to use the same amp that’s powering the subs in the 4Runner. This probably won’t happen for a few months, but a guy can hope.

It’s almost 3AM. I’m tired as hell but can’t sleep. Is this insomnia? I hope not but this is becoming habitual. I haven’t even binge-slept in a long time.
