I attended the Southern California Linux Expo(SCALE 9x) conference for the last three days. It was awesome. I learned about some really cools stuff going on in the Linux/FOSS community, gained new insight into stuff I’m familiar with, and got some cool schwag from the vendors. I’m patiently waiting for the spam from the vendors to hit my inbox…I wonder who will be first?

One of the things that I found at the conference was OpenShot - A non-linear video editor for Linux. The developers mainly use Ubuntu, but I was able to get it up and running on a Fedora 13 VM after a little bit of hacking. Once I finalize the .spec file for the rpm I built, I’ll share my learnings here. I’m hoping to start doing a little bit of video editing from time to time and this package will really help.
