I got home relatively early today, so I decided that I wanted to try and cook something new for dinner. Laura and I decided that we wanted to try gourmet stuffed cheeseburgers for dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp. dark beer (We used Newcastle)
  • 12 of an onion, diced
  • 12 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 3 pieces of crisp bacon, diced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (we actually used 12 cup cheddar and 12 cup colby jack)

Start by cooking the bacon, allowing it to cool a little bit, then dicing it. Dice up the onion and mix the onion, bacon, and cheese in a bowl. Set aside. Mix the beef, seasoned salt, and beer in a bowl. Split the beef mixture into 3 equal piles, then split each of the three piles in half. Take each half and make a thin patty out of it. Add 13 the cheese-onion-bacon mixture to the middle of one of the patties. Be careful not to allow it to get too close to the edge of the patty. Add another patty directly on top of the mixture. Seal the edges. Handle the patty carefully. Repeat the process for the other two burgers.

Grill them up as you would normally cook burgers. Since we don’t currently have a barbeque, we used a countertop Foreman grill. We had our burgers on onion rolls with lettuce and tomato and steak fries on the side.

The nice thing about these burgers is that the beer taste is there but it’s ever so delicate…it really adds a lot to the flavor to the burger. These were an instant favorite!
