Christmas was fun this year. I bought Laura a necklace that she really wanted from Tiffany’s. I received a vivitar 285HV strobe flash, a light stand, an umbrella, an umbrella bracket, Call of Duty: World at War for PS3, The Dark Knight on blue ray, a case for my numerous memory cards (I have 3 now that I regularly use and am considering a fourth), a couple t-shirts, some PJ’s, the classic board game Battleship, Band of Brothers on blue ray, an da few more things I’m probably forgetting.

It feels like I have no play money anymore since they have been cutting back severly on hours at work. All my bills are paid and I have no debt other than my car payment and student loans, but it would be nice to have some extra $$, especially since it’s the holidays. Oh well…hopefully Obama taking office will brighten the spirits of the sheep, I mean consumers, and that in turn will help the economic recovery. I didn’t vote for the guy, but I’ll give him a chance….what other choice do I have?

It’s never fun to find out that things have been said about you behind your back by people you hold close…..so to those individuals (you know who you are), I want you to know that I know what has been and continues to be said. Some of it I knew was going to be said due to the choices I’ve made in my life. I can see through the facade. Please don’t count on me being there anymore. I’m done.

To my Uncle Steve, I don’t even think you know about this site, but I hope you find yourself feeling stronger each day. I don’t exactly believe in prayer, but I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you the best. If you or your family need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.

For my birthday, I’m hoping to be able to purchase myself a 50mm f/1.4 lens for my camera. It will be great for portraits and low light settings without requiring the use of a flash. After shooting that wedding at night and the nightmare of processing some of the over-exposed images, I’m really trying to shy away from using a flash or getting more creative in the ways that I’m using the flash. I’ve discovered the manual settings (via commander mode), so I can adjust the power of the flash now and also get the flash off-camera completely using the built-in infrared triggering. The next step for me with flash is either getting a hotshoe to PC sync cord adapter and a 10 foot sync cable, or shelling out the $300 for a set of PocketWizards (or $50 for a knock-off set from ebay). I’m going to keep an eye on craigslist to see if perhaps someone  offers a set up for sale.
