what a weekend

I can’t remember the last time I went to the theaters and saw two movies in one weekend….let alone three movies in one weekend. It all started innocently enough Friday night. Laura and I went to see Get Smart. It was pretty funny. I’m not the biggest Steve Carell fan and Laura enjoyed the movie more than I did, but I still found it funny at parts.

The next morning, we went to the studio screening of Wall-E. I rose around 7 to make the 8AM showing. I was expecting a lot considering the hype surrounding this movie and the just the fact that I had to get out of bed early on a Saturday. I felt a bit disappointed after the screening. The animation was really nice, but I thought that some of the overall scenes shot on Earth were lacking the crispness of the enviornments inside the space ship and inside Wall-E’s home tractor.

Sunday, we saw Wanted. Again, for the amount of hype about this movie, I was expecting more than it delivered. This film was the best of the three, but it didn’t deliver on the hype. The action was great, the plot was decent, Angelina was hot and the guns were cool. I just felt the hype built this movie up to the level so that I was expecting something revolutionary in the filmmaking much like the original Matrix movie. It didn’t quite live up to that for me, but it was a solid film. I will be renting and/or buying a copy.
